Hi,
I am trying to implement a primary-secondary type of design for Exch2010. I am coming from Exch2003 so the whole idea is novel to me.
I have the primary Exch2010 in mixed mode with 2003 and want to implement a database copy on the secondary server, which will act as a failover in case things go south on the primary.
I dont want to implement DAGs, so what are my options here and what roles need to be on the secondary server, the hub transport role refuses to install on the secondary.

Any pointers appreciated.

Hi,

If you would like to use database copies you will have to use a DAG because this includes this feature.

About the installation of the HUB which fails can you give some more information.

Thanks for the reply Johan. So, to setup 2 servers in failover mode there is no alternative but to go DAG.

Hi,

Please provide the exchangesetup log which can be found in the exchangesetup directory which is default placed on the system drive.
