Hi All,

We currently have resource room mailboxes for our meeting rooms and i require to change the names of these rooms. Before i do,

1. Changing the names to what i have been directed to, will this affect the appointments created in the calendars or will it dymanically update peoples calendars?

Your help is greatly appreciated,

Client: Outlook 2003 SP3
Exchange 2010 Rollup 3

Are you talking about changing the displayname? or the alias too?

Changing the displayname and alias will not affect any existing meetings.

The dynamic change will depend on what mode Outlook is on? If it's in cached mode it will take 6 hrs else just tell users to download the address book in full details. If it online mode it's almost immediately.

I have 5 room mailboxes in exchnage 2010.in outlook they are appearing like this:

Design Club Room
Aspiration Meeting Room
Determination Meeting Room
Vision Conference Room
QT Meeting Room

I need to change the display for 2 rooms so people in outlook see them in this way:

Determination Meeting Room---> Determination Meeting Room-Library
Aspiration Meeting Room--->Aspiration Meeting Room-Ground Floor

I dont want to use powershell

In Exchange System Manager, go to:

Exchange -> Recipient Configuration -> Mailbox

Find the resource mailboxes, double click on them, or right click -> Properties.

Under the General Tab, add the text to the upper text box, this is just the display name that user's see. It will not affect any appointments.

1st timer here..

Sorry to dig this one up but I'm having this EXACT issue however, i need all the recurring appointments that have already been sent and accepted by the "old" resource to reflect the NEW name/description/alias change in peoples Outlook.

essentially, we post our room #'s in the description of the room (display name/Alias).. our numbers are changing. Rather than ask everyone who's ever set up a recurring meeting to delete thier meeting, and create new ones using the "new" named resource i was hoping for a quick fix, a PS script or something of the like.

If anyone knows how to do this please respond

Thanks in advance
Paul
