Hi
We will in near future go Exch03 to Exch10 transition
I'd like to move all mailboxes over a weekend since we only have 35 users.
I do not have a lot of experience doing these things.
One thing I've read is about changing over to legacy.maildomain.com
since it seems (to me) that exch10 will be accepting mail requests and then redirecting to exch03 as needed.
Does this apply if I'm moving all mailboxes in one shot?
Will I need to change my MX record?
(our server accepts mail from postini's servers only)
Also, from outside a few users connect via OWA (unencrypted) using
IP\exchange they then get a login dialog etc.
Is anything different in 2010 for OWA?

thx all

If you're doing a one shot transition you can dispense with most of the information you just named. Prepare your domain as to the migration guide, set up your new server, move the PF and mailboxes, change the port forwarding on the firewall and you should be good to go.

As for the owa, exchange 2007 and up use the mail.contoso.com/owa instead of mail.constoso.com/exchange url. You'll have to inform your users accordingly...

Thank you for your reply
It sounds like it may be easier than I thought
The only thing is how long would it take to move mailboxes. I have about 25 Gig total and about 5 users over 1 gig each (the biggest being 5 gig)
Now all I need is tofigure out how to configure the 2010 equivalent of 2003 smtp virtual server for my internet mail.

thx again

You need to setup a Receive Connector on the Hub to receive mail and a Send Connector to send mail on the Hub too. Its actually very simple.

just come back if you need any help... As you use Positini you will also have to set up your send connector to forward all mail (Smarthost) to Postini.

hello
we only use Postini (which is now part of Google as you know)
to filter incoming mail
It seems the smtp virtual server from 03 has been made into send/recv connectors in 2010
thx
