Hello,

Just wondering if anyone out there has come across the following error whilst trying to setup exchange 2010 on server2008.

error 0x80004005 - I noticed when checking the setup log file that it occurs when setup is trying to run the command aspnet_regiis -ir -enable

I've tried running this command via command line but it fails & outputs an error "Un-specified error".

any ideas ?

0x80004005 is a generic "access denied" message. Do you have any error message that popped up with more information or any components of the exchange installation not working?

I'd check if ASP.NET is installed. Looks like it could be that it did not find the installation?

Try the following:

1. Check if ASP.NET is properly installed (run a repair if needed)
2. Reboot the server
3. Try setup again.
4. If it still fails try to copy the content of the DVD to the harddrive. If it still fails see if you can get another copy somewhere or can download an ISO. This could be related to faulty media.
