I'm doing a "transition" from Exch2003 to 2010. Same domain, different machines. Exch2010 machine is Windows Server 2008R2. Moved over a few test mailboxes and did some sends and receives. I can send from 2010 to 2010 and external addresses and I can send from 2003 and external addresses to 2010 but I having problems sending from 2010 to 2003. It took two hours for a message to get from 2010 to 2003 while mail flowing in the opposite direction is fast as expected. That was a straight "send" from Outlook 2007.

Ran the cmdlet getroutinggroupconnector and it shows my 2 servers with sourceroutinggroup and targetroutinggroup set correctly, at least as far as I can tell.

Have I missed a step somewhere? Thanks in advance.

have you got the routing group connectors going both ways correctly? eg. used the bidirectional command?

New-RoutingGroupConnector -Name "Interop" -SourceTransportServers "2010server1.local" -TargetTransportServers "2003server1.local" -Cost 100 -Bidirectional $true -PublicFolderReferralsEnabled $true

It sounds to me like they are not configured correctly.

What send connectors do you have on your 2010 server also?

I know it may sound silly, try telnet on port 25 from the 2010 box to the 2003 box, ensure windows firewall isn't tripping you up.

Thanks
