Demonseed -> Remove login for internal users in OWA (2.Nov.2010 3:15:09 PM)

We have forms based authentication with SSL for our OWA. I would like to remove the prompt for OWA for internal users only.

How can I do this?

Thanks

I believe if you browse to https://yourserver.com/exchange it should use windows integrated authentication, and will pass off your credentials to the /owa FBA site.

I get direct back to the owa form page to log in. So no go.

How can I verify if integrated authentication is enabled or not?

I also have http redirect on so users don't have to type the \owa to get to the owa form...could this be the problem?

If you did the redirect via javascript or meta redirect then it wont cause issues..if you're doing an HTTP redirect in IIS, then yes, that would cause your issue.

To check if windows integrated auth is enabled, open iis manager and select the Exchange directory, then authentication -- it should be labeled as Windows Authentication

I'm doing it via IIS. I'll have to make some changes and test.

As a side note, is the \exchange directory there for legacy reasons only since it redirects to \OWA or does it still play a role?

Thanks

It's there only for legacy reasons, but since it has windows authentication enabled, it should automatically pass off the credentials to OWA.

I would highly suggest switching to a META refresh because forwarding from IIS can produce unexpected results with Exchange Console and Shell: http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/document/index_tagsupp_4.html
