Well, after giving up on Microsoft Exchange 2010, SBS 2008 is proving a lot easier and quicker to setup. The hold up now is multiple domains and email boxes to be used on 3 client PCs: SBS 2008 server (Exchange Server 2007 included): Windows Server(R) Standard FE 2007 Service Pack 1 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E3300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz RAM 4.00 GB 64-bit Operating System Computer Domain: domain1.local Client PC 1. Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Microsoft Outlook 2010 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 2.67GHz RAM 3.00GB 64-bit Operating System. Computer Domain: domain1.local Client PC 2. Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 Microsoft Outlook 2007 Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz RAM 1.66GHz, 0.99 GB 32-bit Operating System Computer Domain: domain1.local Client PC 3. Microsoft Windows 7 Starter 2009 Microsoft Outlook 2010 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N470 @ 1.83GHz 1.83 GHz RAM 1.00 GB 32-bit Operating System Computer Domain: domain1.local The emails previously used via POP3 are: usera@domain1.com userb@domain1.com usera@domain2.com userb@domain2.com usera@domain3.com userb@domain3.com usera@domain4.com usera@domain5.com I understand SBS 2008 only allows 1 domain for Users and Groups as per Windows SBS Console Home Set up your Internet address. a. The blog http://sbs.seandaniel.com/2008/10/hosting-multiple-domains-on-sbs.html has a guide which has enabled me to complete the multiple domain and mailbox setup in Exchange Management Console. (there was some trouble making domain1.com the priority number 1 and SBS 2008 acknowledging this), however this is setup correctly again. b. I have also however, as per another blog, added domain1.com domain2.com domain3.com domain4.com domain5.com into the Exchange Management Console Organization Configuration E-mail Address Policies Default Policy which already has domain1.local as the main 'bolded' E-Mail Address (the primary E-Mail Address Policy). This (a. and b. above) has caused all email addresses including SBS 2008 Users and Groups E-mail Address to now look like this: usera.com@domain1.com (alias@primary SMTP Address). This is because I cannot add an email address simply as usera@domain1.com and usera@domain2.com. Exchange Management Console won't allow the same usera to be used twice. So I have added usera@domain1.com and then useradomain2.com@domain2.com for example. So, putting those problems aside (a. and b.), I have been able to add the email boxes to Microsoft Outlook 2010 (via Control Panel, User Accounts, Mail) however I cannot log in on the initial Microsoft Office 2010 username and password for the domain\emailbox prompt. -----BIG TIP START! When adding a new Microsoft 2010 email account or Client computer (don't use the SBS 2008 Windows SBS Console Network Connect computer to your network Access the program through a web browser (recommended) OR Copy the program to portable media type http://connect as this is hopeless and will waste your time) Use this process: Go to your client PC Control Panel User Accounts (or straight to Mail on Microsoft Window XP Pro) Mail E-mail Accounts New Manually configure server settings or additional server types Next Microsoft Exchange or compatible service Next Server ...TYPE IN THE IP ADDRESS eg: 192.168.1.xxx and not domain1.local. IP address solved me hours of lost research on why the client PCs wouldn't connect! BIG TIP END----- So, my email accounts usera@domain1.com userb@domain1.com usera@domain2.com userb@domain2.com usera@domain3.com userb@domain3.com usera@domain4.com usera@domain5.com are all added to Microsoft Outlook 2010 in the left email folder pane, but on opening Microsoft Outlook 2010 it prompts for Connecting to usera@domain2.com username and password, which won't log in. Connecting to userb@domain2.com username and password, which won't log in. Connecting to usera@domain3.com username and password, which won't log in. Connecting to userb@domain3.com username and password, which won't log in. Connecting to usera@domain4.com username and password, which won't log in. Connecting to usera@domain5.com username and password, which won't log in. (usera@domain1.com and userb@domain1.com are logged in to Microsoft Outlook 2010). I cancel these 6 prompts as the accounts won't log in with password variations and Microsoft Outlook 2010 then opens with all accounts usera@domain1.com userb@domain1.com useradomain2.com@domain2.com userbdomain2.com@domain2.com useradomain3.com@domain3.com userbdomain3.com@domain3.com useradomain4.com@domain4.com useradomain5.com@domain5.com in the left email folder pane. However if I click to open the folder useradomain2.com@domain2.com userbdomain2.com@domain2.com useradomain3.com@domain3.com userbdomain3.com@domain3.com useradomain4.com@domain4.com useradomain5.com@domain5.com and drop down to see the Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk E-mail, Outbox, Search Folders, the error: The set of folders cannot be opened. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost). I hope this helps some connect their network quickly and may be able to help me too.
