I want to know how many DAG group can you have in an organization? Is it just one or can you create multiple DAG groups.

Thank you.

You can have multiple DAGs but a server can only belong to one!

Thanks for the info de.blackman. One more question, can you have multiple different mailbox databases in one DAG?

I am sorry but I do not fully understand your question. Basically you configure your DAGs and add mailbox servers to be members. Lets say SRV1 and SRV2 are in DAG1 while SRV3 and SRV4 are on DAG2.

Each server has 2 mailbox databases (SRV1DB01 and SRV1DB02 for example). Once I have made SRV1 and SRV2 members of DAG1, I can configure SRV1DB01 to replicate to SRV2 or vice versa. The DAG defines the replication members and the replication boundary. Because SRV3 and SRV4 are in a different DAG, i cannot replicate databases from SRV1 or SRV2!

Hope this helps!

So for the second mailbox database SRV1DB02 I need to create another DAG and add SRV1 and SRV2 members to the new DAG? I'm a little confuse... You said a server can only belong to one DAG.

Actually no! That is not what I mean. What I meant was that SRV1 and SRV2 will have their own databases. Since they are in the same DAG, SRV1 will be able to replicate any or all of its databases to SRV2 and the same vice versa. Since SRV3 and SRV4 are in a different DAG, they will not be able to replicate their databases to SRV1 or SRV2. In addition SRV1 and SRV2 cannot replicate to SRV3 or SRV4.
