Hi all,

It appears that we are still having some mail issues. The issue is that some mail servers don't identify our mail server with the IP address assigned (rDNS but identify it with IP address is the IP assigned to our gateway.

Since those mail servers, such as aol.com, sbcglobal.net, comcast.net, and others, can't recognize our mail server with IP address: as a mail server but receive mail from IP address:, and so they reject messages delivered to them.

My question is: if I were to request our ISP to add another rDNS with, pointing to our mail server, would this cause any issues?

Our mail server is registered with Hostway.
MX record is set to mail.abc.com -- IP
ISP created PTR (rDNS) with mail.abc.com -- IP

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
