When logging onto OWA, you are being authenticated with active directory so you have to provide your domain information (not your email address). You will be able to do so by using one of these two methods: 1. DomainName\Username and a password (this is known as the pre-windows 2000 logon format) 2. user@domain.suffix (this is known as the UPN format) You can see both of these when you go into the properties of a user account in AD users and computers on the Accounts tab.

All I see inthe account tab is the following: user must change password user can nto change password password never expires store password using reversible encryption account disable smart card is require to login account is sensitive and can not be delegated use kerberous aes 128 bit encryption use kerberous aes 256 bit encryption do not require kerberous preauthentication Current the email does noit work since the server domain is different then email domains the only way user can login now is domain\user and I hoping it can be base on emails thanks again

That's what I explained in my previous post. An email address is just an attribute of a user and in order to gain access to any domain resource (such as a mailbox), you must provide domain credentials. Now you mentioned that you do NOT see the user logon name and pre-windows 2000 names in the accounts tab?????? What you have listed below are the account options. Please log on as a domain administrator and check again! These entries are at the top of the Accounts tab.

I figure out here the steps: within Exchange Management Console, go to “Server Configuration>Client Access”, right click the OWA website listed under the “Outlook Web App” tab, select properties, and click the “Authentication” tab then click radio button upn and click ok open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Domains and Trusts snap-in. Alternative UPN suffixes are available to the entire forest, so right-click the root node (Active Directory Domains and Trusts) in the treeview pane, then select Properties to open the forest's Properties window. Select the UPN Suffixes tab finally go to Open the MMC Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, and open the Properties window of a user to whom you want to assign the new suffix. Select the Account tab, then select the new suffix from the drop-down list. User@ acme.com

hi frank_u Glad you found the solution, not many people know that trick about adding dummy UPN;s to Active Directory.
