Hello, I am trying to install Exch 2010 on a new server at my org. I am running into a problem where the install process is telling me to remove ADC (Active Directory Connector). I have Exch 2003 in place on a member server. When I installed 2003 I used ADC to connect to AD from the member server. I am not running Exch 5.5 at all, I have raised the Exch level to 2003 Native mode, I have raised my domain & forest levels to 2003 modes. I need to have the 2003 exch server co-exist with the 2010 server for a while. Can I remove ADC from the member server and have all my services to my users ongoing? Any help is much appreciated.

Yes you can safely remove the ADC without any issues. As you mentioned the ADC was used to provide coexistence when migrating from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000\2003 so it looks like it was left there by mistake.

Thanks, removing ADC from Server 2003 went smoothly. I still have all services to my user group. However, when I continue on to install Exchange 2010 I get an error message that states I still have ADC installed in my Active Directory. How do I completely remove ADC from my AD? Thanks

You could have a look in the schema. I can't remember the exact container the connectors are in but pherhaps de.blackman does (or any other forum member :)

Actually the ADC is not in the schema but in the configuration partition of active directory. To verify if any still exist, first place to check is in the Exchange 2003 system manager (can't really remember exact location of the ADC in the system manager). If any connection agreements exist, delete them. Another place to check is by using ADSIEdit.msc and you can drill through the configuration container/Services/Microsoft Exchange/Active Directory Connector. Please do NOT delete anything from this location but if anything does exist, please post back.
