Hello, I have a new exchange 2010 installation. I understand OWA, OutlookAnywhere & Autodiscover depend on port 443. Since I have a serivce already using port 443, my plan is to allocate a different port to OWA,OutlookAnywhere & Autodiscover, say port 444. Will this work and is this recommended? Most of my readings say it will ow break autodiscover etc.. If possible, how can I go about implementing that.

I have seen alot of people saying that they change the port number of their exchange web site and I always ask "WHY?"...I really do not see why you would want to change the default way something works and cause issues for yourself! Is it more secure?? NO!! Just because you changed the port number does not mean you are securing your website. If someone wants to crack your site, beleive me they will!!

In your case, I do not understand how come port 443 is in use! Do you mean the service is running on the same server that you are running exchange?? Why do you have another service running with Exchange? Or do you mean that port 443 is always being forwarded from the firewall?

On the firewall, port 443 is already port forwarded to a postfix mail server which hosts remote branch clients mailbox. So externally when trying to access the OWA, the apache site error appears:
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at mail.mydomain.com. Port 443
These branch offices also use webmail to access the mailbox on the postfix server via https.

Does your firewall support another IP address? That way you have the new IP address's port 443 forwarded to Exchange.
