Howdy,

I've got a user who since we've migrated to 2010 from 2003 is getting:
"Recipient"
#< #5.5.0 smtp;571 Reputation Violation for User "Recipient" (BADDNS)... > #SMTP#

(where "Recipient" is the address of the party my user is trying to reach)

The message seems to be coming from my 2003 server, even though there's maybe half a dozen mailboxes left on there and none belong to my user...

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried to track the mail on ther users mailbox?is it happening for only one user ?
Try moving the users mailbox to a different database and see if that helps
