Dear all,

My company has given me a subdomain ex: abc.xyz.net for the testing of exchange before deploying in the organization.

we dont have any existing exchangeorganization as of now.

All the exchange installation would be on exchange 2010

the lab consists of 2 domain controllers, 2 client acces servers, 2 mail box servers, 2 hub transport servers.

i have installed all the pre requisites on all the member server for exchange installations.

As i have to update the AD schema and prepare the domain.

as my doamin name is abc.xyz.net, i tried using the following commands on DC

1) setup /PrepareAd /OrganizationalName: abc.xyz.net ( i got error saying its not valied organization name)

2)setup /PrepareAd /OrganizationalName: abc.xyz ( i got error saying its not valied organization name)

Please help me, what would be my organizational name to the update the AD schema and prepare the domain

Pls Note:
Also want to tell you that i have run setup /PrepareAd /OrganizationalName: abc command and executed fine.

Now i think i have made a mistake insted of using xyz as domain name i used abc.

i tried to run the setup /PrepareAd /OrganizationalName: xyz but it gives me the error saying there exists exchange organization abc.

if i want to remove the previously updated abc and use xyz, what should i do?

waiting for your valuable feed back and help.

thanks in advance

Organization names can't contain period characters, thats why you couldn't use abc.xyz.net

The organization name can be specified once during the initial AD prep and then its done, you can't change it.

You should also be aware that Exchange is a Forest-wide application. So when you say sub-domain, is that sub-domain part of your xyz.net production Active Directory environment? If so, you've just prepped your production AD environment for Exchange 2010.

If not, and it is a completely separate test environment that you're working with, then you can either use this Exchange 2007 article to remove the Exchange org and start again...

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998313(EXCHG.80).aspx

...or just blow away the test lab and start all over again. Or just proceed with the organization name you already specified since this is just a test lab.
