Hi, I have a new windows 2008 R2 server working as terminal server. I have around 100 exchange 2007 users. Now I want to custom install outlook, so that when users connects to terminal server and open outlook, it should automatically configure the profile for them. How i can do this. thanks

When you are using Outlook 2007 or 2010, profile will configured automatically, you don't have to configure it manually.

I would hope it would, but it doesn't. It starts the Outlook Setup Wizard, Select Yes to configure an email account, select Next, then sits in the "Auto Account Setup" screen and doesn't fill in the information (i.e. name, email address..). You have to select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and manually enter the email server address and user's name to start their Outlook. On our windows 2003 Terminal Server, it automatically fills in the mail server info and username, as it goes through the Outlook Setup Wizard on first run of Outlook. Why doesn't it do this on the 2008R2 Terminal Server? There must be a setting or something we are missing. Thanks.

The user is on Exchange 2007 or? What happens when you try to configure the same mailbox on any other workstation?

Users are on Exchange 2007. Logging into any Windows 7 workstations on our network, the Outlook wizard finds the information and auto-fills it in, so all user needs to do is keep clicking "Next" to start Outlook for first time. Works like a charm. So I assume the problem is somewhere in the Terminal Server settings (?)

There got to be something to do with Terminal Server. My question is, why would you want to install Outlook on terminal server?

Our staff often do work from home (or travel) and use the Terminal server to get their documents or applications. They also need access to email.

Why would you use Terminal Services to access the email. You can use Outlook Anyewhere? To access the Documents you can use Sharepoint.

I think we're getting off topic here. That isn't in question at the moment. I simply have a technical problem which requires assistance. Does anyone else have suggestions how to get auto-discover to work on a Windows 2008R2 Terminal Server? Thanks.

I would not think autodiscover cares it's on a terminal server but then again....... Nonetheless set up your OL profile on a terminal server. Do it manually if you need to. Right click the OL system tray icon and choose Test Email AutoConfiguration. Go through the wizard. Look at the errors and share them with us.

It looks like you didn't configure your autodiscover url's try this from the exchange management shell : get-clientaccessserver | set-clientaccessserver -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri "https://webmail.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml" for more info check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125157.aspx (Example nr 3)

Autodiscover is a nightmare. After installing EXCH SP3 I had to set SSL permissions in IIS: change SSL on autodiscover to ignore client certificates change SSL on OAB to ignore client certificates change SSL on EWS to ignore client certificates Rpc virtual directory : "Require SSL" is unchecked and "Ignore" is checked for Client Certificates. RpcWithCert virtual Directory: "Require SSL" and "Require 128-bit SSL" is checked and "Require" is checked for Client Certificates.
