hassan tofaha -> uninstalling the first exchange 2007 server (22.May2011 5:12:48 AM)

hi every body

thanks for reading my post
i have in my exchange organization 1 exchange server 2007 Sp1 on win 2003 R2 work internally only
now i want to migrate to exchange 2007 sp3 on win 2008 R2

- the public folder is not used at all

i did the following
1- installed the exchange 2007 sp3 on win2008 R2 on the new server
2- moved the mail boxes from the first exchange server to the new one
3- moved the OAB to the new exchange
4- created second storge group on the new exchange and created public folder database

the issue now is
i tried to delete the public folder database from the fisrt exchange serve
a massaged said that :
"the public folder data base ---- is the defualt public folder database for the following mailbox data bases :
the new exchange name
the first exchage name

before deleting the public folder database assign anew public folder database to the mail box databasess."

the process in not clear for me ! what should i do ?

So you just want to delete the Public Folder Database?
If you are using Outlook 2003 client than you will have to have Public Folder Database.

Before you delete the Public Folder Database of Old server, you should replicate it on to New Server.

You can delete the Public Folder Database from Adsiedit.mes...Configuration...>Services...>Microsoft Exchange...>ORG...>Administrative Group...>Exchange Administrative Group...>Server...>Information Store...>Second Storage Group..[Delete Public Folder Database]

but I opened the ADSI Edit on my domain controller which is win 2008 SP2

Adsiedit.mes...Configuration...>Services...>Microsoft Exchange...>ORG...>Administrative Group...>Exchange Administrative Group...>Server...>Information Store...>Second Storage Group..[Delete Public Folder Database]
I think it is for win server 2003 ?
waiting any help

I know, cause by default you don't see Configuration Partition on Windows Server 2008.
Right Click on Adsiedit and click on ADD, From the Default Naming Context where its showing Domain Context select Configuration and click on Apply and OK.

After that follow my previous POST.

i did the following:

public folder management console
the default public folder --) from the right pane properties and replica---)add the new sever and removed the old one ---) and Wait for the replication period 15 min

and what about the System Public Folder should i do as i did in the default Public Folder

Yes, you need to replicate System Folders as well (OAB and Free Busy)
