Folks,
I am a college student and wanting to learn about Exchange 2010. I was going to install it on a Windows Server 2008 R2 running two cores and 3 gigs of RAM. I have a legal license in order to install and use Exchange 2010. I would only have two mailboxes for my personal domain. I know the minimum on the MS site is higher. Any thoughts as if it will work?

Oh heck yes!
It's going to run fairly slowly so don't expect things to fly.
I have about 15 Hyper-V guests in my lab (quad core, 24GB) some have 1GB and some have 1.5GB RAM running merrily. Big thing is that I have a Windows 7 laptop that is on the domain and has SCVMM, Exchange Management Console and all of the NetApp lab stuff I use on it. That makes the admin tasks run whizzy.
You'll be fine making that box a DC and putting Exchange on it.

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I realized I have only two gig of ram assigned so I am going to bump it to three and see how that works. At two gigs I am at 91% RAM. If I read right Exchange 2010 does not use any of the MS SQL 2008. If that is true I am going to uninstall SQL 2008 and save hard drive and RAM space. I read that MS SQL will just gobble up RAM for no reason.
