Hi, We are using exchange 2007 sp2 on windows server 2008 x64 standard, we are all set to upgrade to exchange 2010. But we have new hardware with new os (Win server 2008 R2 x64 enterprise) installed. We don’t want to change our owa link and domain name. Because we have many users using owa link only not outlook. Please suggest me how to install new server with same name and domain, how we can move the exchange data in new server. Both servers having 1 TB single HDD. Existing edb size is 300 GB and 200 GB respectively. Only way we can understand that export pst from edb file and import in new server. But will increase our downtime and efforts. Can we try making new server as ADC in same domain then install exchange 2010 on it ? I have tried this steps on 2003 server 2 years back, it has make 2nd server as replica of existing server AD. But in current case we have exchange server installed on old server and latest version required on new server with old database. Please suggest the best way to configure new server with no link change and database will remain same. Thanks

First thing you got to understand is, you can;t have the same server name. You don;t have to change your OWA URL. You can keep the same. Best way is Migration and its a proper way.

Thanks for reply, we have done it, install new server 2008 r2 on new hardware. create ADC on that and install exchange 2010. then move mailboxes from 2007 to 2010 server. owa link has been changed. previous server was https://s*mail.info.com/owa now it is https://stmail.*info.com/owa but we are facing one problem mails are stuck regularly in "Submission queue" in new 2010 server. And it halts all the services in new server like transport and web access. Still we are in moving process not all mailboxes have been moved to new server. Please help me out. how to make smoothly working in exchange 2010, I have forefront for exchange and Symantec endpoint protection as antivirus. I have one fortinet firewall on gateway. IP range and security levels are same as i had with my exchange 2007. exchange 2007 system is also working within the same range of IP and still i have working users on 2007. Both 2007 and 2010 in same forest & sharing users in domain. Both users able to send & receive. "But queue is main issue for me sometimes 1100 mails in submission queue." I can't remove 2007 server before all users moved to new server. one more thing when i shut down 2007 then 2010 not able to login.

Can anyone provide me steps to remove my old server 2007 without any problem, as i said when i shut down it my new server (2010) wont work. Submission queue is major issue for me ahead of removing old server. please help me out.

Hi, We have transferred all FSMO roles to new server and shut down ols one. but service of exchange has not started on new 2010 server. Then we tried to revert back all roles to old server but scheema & domain name is not moved, If we continue with current scenario both mail servers are not working, please help me out. I have searched on some sites there is DNS problem. Checked all things but nothing found incorrect but dcdiag on (new server) given error : Starting test: LocatorCheck Warning: DcGetDcName(GC_SERVER_REQUIRED) call failed, error 1355 A Global Catalog Server could not be located - All GC's are down. ......................... mail.com failed test LocatorCheck Starting test: Intersite Waiting for valuable reply, I can provide the full text file of dcdiag log. Hi, Depending on how you have 2007 setup today you might be able to break the CCR cluster (leave SCR going if you have that), rebuild that node as 2010, move the mailboxes, then rebuild the other machines. It'll require calculated time where you're running on a single node, but it gets around having to buy a ton more servers. This of course does not take care of the CAS/HUB issue, but those should be easier.Thanks. _________________ Architects in Dublin

HI, Thanks for reply. We have created new server now with server 2008 R2 & exchange 2010. Now sometimes mails stuck in submission queue. Please help me out to resolve the issue.
