Renewal exchange certificate - 5.Sep.2011 5:22:45 AM

Hello,
The ssl certificate on my Exchange 2007 server was due to expire, so I renewed it by using the 'Renew an Existing Certificate' Wizard in IIS 7. I'm using an internal Enterprise CA so the request for the renewal of the certificate was sent automatically to the CA. Approval also happened automatically ; the only thing left was to run the 'Complete Certificate Request' Wizard on my Exchange server.

After that everything looks to be working perfectly : my certificate has now been a new expiring date.

However since I also using an ISA2006 server, I still need to export this certificate and import it on ISA. And this is where the problem begins : I'm no longer able to export the certificate with it's private key from my Exchange server or from my CA server. The private key is necessary to make my certificate work on ISA2006. It tells me that the private key is not installed, which is confirmed by the Certificate Export Wizard : the option to export the private key is greyed out.

Any ideea how I can fix this issue ?

Many thanks

Regards,

There is no way to mark an existing certificate as exportable if you forget to mark it when requesting the certificate.

In this case, I would issue a new certificate for your Exchange server and make sure that you mark it as exportable as part of the process.
