Hi all
we have a small company with 25 employees,
I want to install MS Exchange 2010 on a Windows Server 2008 R2,
I installed Active Directory and other prerequisites on this server, but still there is one problem in installation readiness checks:

"Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Active Directory server aaaaaa.net is not available. Error message: Active directory response: A local error occurred.
Click here for help... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms.exch.err.default(EXCHG.141).aspx?v=14.1.218.11&e=ms.exch.err.Ex28883C&l=0&cl=cp"

I checked the above address, but there was no answer!

I searched a lot, but nothing found.

Is there any needed configuration in AD?

Thanks

1. Check DNS. Can you do nslookup's of your server and also reverse lookups.
2. Is the Windows firewall enabled? If so turn it off.
3. Is User Access Control enabled? If so turn it off.
4. Can you use AD Users and Computers console ok?
5. What pre-requisities have you do so far? Is the Schema and domain prepped for Exchange?

Thanks for your advises,
I just made another user and started the installation. Then exchange installed successfully!!

But I have some new questions!
1) I installed exchange, made a mail box, and configured send and receive connectors. The owa works fine and I can login into that and send or receive mails for internal/external addresses.
But I can not use outlook to send/receive mails through exchange server. Is there any needed configuration in exchange?
I can add the mail account in outlook, but after restarting outlook, there is an error:
quote:

"The name cannot be resolved. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

2) How can I change group policies of a organization unit in AD? I want to disable password complexity for users in OU. How can I do that?

Use the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) to change policies and to change password policies:
1. Edit the Default Domain Policy
2. Expand Computer configuration, Policies, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Account Policies.
3. Select Password Policies
4. Disable the 'Password must meet complexity requirements'
5. Click OK

By outlook you mean outlook client, well let me tell you exchange has a capability to allow you to access mailbox using pop/imap and mapi access. for this to happen please see what kind of access you want

if you are looking for pop3 access check whether exchange pop service is running, check your client access roles configuration, whether in exchange management console pop/imap access is properly configured,

Regarding the error you are getting try with other profile by creating a new one and let me  know

I want to use Microsoft Outlook 2010 as a client with MAPI, I tried many solutions like : making another profile, enabling outlook anywhere, changing encryption options and so on... but the problem is still remaining.

I checked for POP3 and IMAP and after starting their services, I can connect to exchange server via outlook, but I want to configure MAPI for this issue.

Is there any needed configuration in Exchange server for MAPI?

Thanks

Download a mapi client from microsoft website and test your MAPI connectivity !! Check Mailbox feature of User whether MAPI is enabled. Also check required ports are open between MAPI Client and Exchange Server
