Hi Guys,

More curiousity than an issue really...

I have built a DAG that works perfectly and just have a question.

I have put my Mapi and Replication on separate networks (Production mapi: 172.16.0.23/24, rep: 172.16.10.23/24 and host2: Production: 172.16.0.24/24 rep: 172.16.10.24/24)

My question is when I look in Failover Cluster Manager for the DAG, Under Cluster Core Resourses there are IP addresses. I set a static of 172.16.0.26 to the Production network but the other one uses DHCP (As is is the replication network it is private with no DHCP server)

Can I just delete this or is it required? Ive added a link to my setup

Many thanks in advance

If DHCP isn't available then you need to set the static IP of the network.

Thanks for the link. Is that true of the Replication Network too or just production?

AFAIK that is correct -- only on the MAPI network. From what I've read it's just a place holder for the cluster .

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638104.aspx

DAG Name and IP Address Requirements
During creation, each DAG is given a unique name, and either assigned one or more static IP addresses, or configured to use DHCP. Regardless of whether you use static or dynamically-assigned addresses, any IP address assigned to the DAG must be on the MAPI network.

Each DAG requires a minimum of one IP address on the MAPI network. A DAG requires additional IP addresses when the MAPI network is extended across multiple subnets. The following figure illustrates a DAG where all nodes in the DAG have the MAPI network on the same subnet.
