garryking -> Enable mailbox auditing (4.Feb.2012 1:09:49 AM)

Hi all,

I am just trying to enable mailbox auditing on test mailbox in my test environment. However, it seems that I am doing something obviously wrong.

I am following this article:

http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/compliance-policies-archiving/auditing-mailbox-access.html

However, I get below error:

A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '-auditenabled'.
+ CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-Mailbox], ParameterBindingException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-Mailbox

Below is the command that I am using:

set-mailbox -identity "test" -auditenabled $true

This command is similar to below command which is given on technet website.

Set-Mailbox -Identity "Ben Smith" -AuditEnabled $true

I don't understand what I am doing wrong? I can use same command with -calendarrepairdisabled though. This test mailbox is user mailbox.

please advise..

Are you currently on Exchange 2010 SP1 or higher?  That particular feature became available in SP1.

If you are, I would verify that the account your using has the appropriate permissions to enable auditing.
