Hallo,

I have installed Exchange 2010 on domain xxx.yy some time ago. At this moment, I have to install subdomain zzz.xxx.yy on other site and I would like that subdomain users use parent domain Exchange server. I have no experience on multidomain environment, so I would like to know installation steps, if is that possible.

From a lab I just built, first, ensure that there is two way trust between domains.

Second, from the root domain, run setup /prepareAD /organizationname:<organizationname>

Then run: setup /preparedomain:xxx.yyy.zzz (your sub-domain)

After that, you should be able to create AD objects in your sub-domain, but still give them a mailbox in the root domain yyy.zzz.

Reference this doc, it covers sub-domains for AD.
