chr.kj -> #553 sorry, mail from your location [IP_ADDRESS] is administratively denied (#5.7.1) ## (21.Mar.2012 10:47:08 AM)

Hi all.

A user gets this "error" #553 sorry, mail from your location [MY_PUBLIC_IP_ADDRESS] is administratively denied (#5.7.1) ## while sending to some external mail accounts.

I have tried to figure out why, but as far as I can see, the 5.7.1 is a relay error?

Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance.

It depends upon the circumstances. It could be a relay issue, but then one of two scenarios is likely.
1. ALL messages going out from you would be similarly rejected
2. A selected route is incorrectly configured, attempting to relay

Unless all of your outbound messages are blocked, it is more probable that you've got a "trust" issue. Perhaps you don't have a reverse-lookup configured (SPF or RDNS), or that you've been blacklisted, or that you're trying to deliver messages that require you to be in a whitelist.

A clue to what is going on is understanding which system is creating the NDR and which system is refusing your message.
