There is a solution by using PC Inspector File Recovery, you can find information about this issue here http://www.emergingtechs.com/posts/how-to-recover-data-from-a-crashed-hard-drive/

Hi,
Sorry for the late answer.
1) Firstly, perform a low level cloning of your external hard drive to another external hard drive.
2) Secondly, unplug your original external hard drive (so that your HFS+ data won't be damaged).
And keep it as a backup during all the file recovery.
3) Thirdly, plug a third external hard drive where the extracted files will be outputted.
4) Lastly, use a good data recovery software to recover files from FAT/NTFS from the cloned hard drive.

Have a look at:- http://mail2web.com/plugins/addons/outlook/backups-archiving/efficient-windows-data-recovery_2074.html

For recovery try using "Cloudbacko home" software as this software gives backup and helps restoring also and more over i am suggesting you this because i am using this software from long time and really satisfied using this software. So this is just the one option but their are many more options available in the market. Try it!
