If you please I have a question regarding Exchange 2010 HA design.

My Director asked me to build a new exchange 2010 with high availability and redundancy from zero we don't have a previous mail server. The exchange will include 3 different domain “3 FQDN” should send and receive and all users should open any OWA.

number of users 150.

As this solution correct like this:

1-Have 2 Real server with 3 roles installed on it.“MB, CAS,HubTransport”.
2-Create DAG using windows cluster.
3-Create CAS array using third party hardware NLB.

I’m not sure if this is the best design, what NLB hardware to buy “I have no experience at all in NLB”, how to replicate HUB transport, is it possible to open the 3 FQDN using OWA and should I buy 1 certificate for the 3 domain or 3 certificates.

I’m really sorry for all of these questions.
I hope to see your reply soon.

Yes I think having 2 servers running the typical (mailbox, hub transport and CAS) roles will be fine. You can configure DAG between the 2 servers and then you MUST use a hardware load balancer for the CAS\HT roles to be load balanced. I would recommend looking into a virtual load balancer such as one from KEMP but you can choose from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/gg176682.aspx.

AS for the FQDN, simply create one certificate with all three domains listed in it. So you would have at a minimum:

webmail. domain1.com
webmail. domain2.com
webmail. domain2.com
Autodiscover. domain1.com
Autodiscover. domain2.com
Autodiscover. domain3.com

Thank you for your reply. Regarding virtual load balancer is there anything you could recommend.

Frankly i didn't design or configure Exchange high availbility before.
Do you have any guide to HA or step by step documentation.

Best,

Depending on which load balancer you choose, the configuration will be different. Contact the vendor of the HLB and im sure they have documentation for setting it up for exchange 2010.

http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/high-availability-recovery/load-balancing-exchange-2010-client-access-servers-using-hardware-load-balancer-solution-part1.html

this one talks about using the Kemp LoadMaster
