crispvx -> Help needed - Exchange 2010 install into 2003 Environment (31.Jan.2013 10:28:37 AM)

Hello We want to upgrade our current Exchange 2003 environment to 2010. I know we will need to install 2010 and then migrate the mailboxes and resources over but, here is my question. Exchange 2003 is currently installed in network A. We want to install Exchange 2010 in Network B. Network A is at location 1 Network B is at location 2 Network A and B are connected via VPN, both have firewalls and internet connections. Following the instructions for the Exchange install I noticed we will need to delete the SMTP connector on Exchange 2003, this is where im starting to get confused. If we delete SMTP how will mail route, do we need to allow SMTP email out from Network B? How will address verificaton take place if we do that? Any input is appreciated Thank You
