Upgrading to Exchange 2013 SP3 failed

Hello everybody,

While trying to upgrade the Exchange 2010 to SP3 I got the following error message when It reaches the mailbox client role , also Microsoft Exchange RPC client access service failed to start with logged error message in event viewer "The Microsoft Exchange RPC service can't be started because the EMSMDB interface is already registered by another process" :

All other services are running fine however , all outlook clients lost their connection with the exchange and showing disconnected

Please let me know if you ran into the same issue before I really appreciate If you can help me to resolve it ASAP.

Are you upgrading from sp2 to sp3? Have you updated AD schematic. First apply the schema update. Cas server then hub and mailbox.
…During the upgrade, the database is dismounted, and all mailboxes in that database are taken offline. If you are using DAG then read this link

Hi,

This happened for me during an upgrade. None of my servers could start the RPC service until I changed the RPC locator service to auto and then I rebooted the servers
