We have recently upgraded Exchange 2003 SP2 (Active Passive Cluster)to the Exchange 2010 High available servers (2 X HUB/CAS in Windows NLB and 2 X MBX in DAG). We have enabled Outlook anywhere. users are configured for outlook anywhere and Outlook anywhere proxy settings are configured in the account settings. initially everything works fine, users are able to send/receive emails but after some times users are facing password prompts issues when they close and reopen outlook client.
We have seen that if user open outlook and HTTPS session is maintained then users will be prompted for username and password and if the user open outlook and TCP/IP session is maintained then users will not be prompted for username and password. how we verify this is press the ctrl key right click outlook icon near date and time the option "Connection status" comes which shows the details that either HTTPS or TCP/IP session is maintained.

My question is that is there anyway that if the user opens outlook from internal network and HTTPS session is initiated, he must not be prompted for username and password but if the session is initiated from outside (Internet) then he should be prompted for username and password.

in summary is there anyway that if HTTPS session is initiated outlook will use existing authenticated user credentials to open outlook as user is already authenticated from Domain Controller.

Regards,

ADG

Please check the authentication settings on IIS virtual Directories.
