chrishch -> Which Server OS for DAG (15.Feb.2014 9:58:11 AM)

We are planning to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 (and then eventually to Exchange 2013).

As we are gathering all the information, we are unsure about the DAG requirement. We do want multi-site redundancy.

We are combining the Hub/CAS/Mailbox into one server in each data centre. For the DAG, which Windows Server OS should I use? My VAR can't find the SKU for Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise anymore. Would the Failover Clustering feature in Windows Server 2012 (not R2) work with Exchange 2010 SP3? If I go with Windows Server 2012, should I keep it consistent and deploy the same OS for the Edge Transport server?

Is Windows Server 2012 compatible with Exchange 2010?

Thanks.

Yes Exchange 2010 SP3 is supported on Windows 2012 so you can definitely use that for DAG deployment. Personally I prefer to stay with the same OS across all Exchange servers so might as well use Win2K12 for the Edge Transport role.
