Hi Guys,

I am in big confusion here just need help. I know we are lagging behind so I am trying to upgrade exchange server 2003 32 bit installed on server 2003 32 bit to exchange server 2007 64 bit. Having read some articles I found that exchange 2003 backups cannot be restore on exchange 2007 64 bit coz its completely different. I have following questions:-

* I know there is no way to upgrade server 2003 32 to server 2003 64 bit but how would I be able to install all mailboxes after 64 bit clean installation. Do i need to install 64 bit exchange server 2003 and restore all 32 bit exchange database?

* Is it possible that 32 bit exchange 2003 server database be accepted by 64 bit freshly installed exchange 2003 ?

* After installing exchange 2003 64 bit can I do inline upgrade to 2007 64 without loosing any data?

* Is there any smart way to achieve my goal without this lengthy process. I just want to upgrade my exchange server 2003 32 bit to exchange server 2007 64 bit. My thought is I want to backup all exchange database to tape drive and do clean installation of new server 2003 64 bit on same server then install exchange server 2003 64 bit and install exchange server 2003 64 bit on same machine then restore previous exchange 2003 32 bit onto newly installed exchange 2003 64 bit and lastly install exchange 2007 64 bit inline upgrade. Would it be possible to do this upgrade ?

Thanks,
