I just discovered that one of our application admins allowed an external software vendor to configure their software to send them (the external vendor), email alerts from the actual server over port 25. This is NOT an exchange server.

I am concerned that this is probably not the best way to do this, basically a non-exchange server sending email external to our network.

Wouldn’t it be better to create a receive connector on the Exchange server restricted to the application server?

Any other options/suggestions?
Thanks
