Hello
I have following issue. In an infrastructure we had an Exchange 2010 database crash. the last full backup is 4 days old. because there was no way to repair the database i restored the 4 day old backup. so far so good...but is there a way that i can restore the missing 4 days of mailbox items? i have all the log files but no valid edb file. is there a way to set up a new database without the edb file? i don't want to touch the current database..maybe it is possible with the use of the recovery database?

Are your current log files corrupted? If not, you have the following option available to you:
1. Restore edb file to 'original' location
2. Open cmd and cd to the edb directory
3. Run: eseutil /mh 'database name.edb'
If eseutil reports that the database is in a clean state (Not dirty) then you can use the current log files to update the database to the state it was in before corruption (as far as the logs go)
If you dont care about the mail from the backup until the corruption, then you can tell Exchange to allow file restore on the database, move the current log files, and then mount the database.
