On exchange server 2003 i am currently using a smart host to route my emails for inbound/outbound on a single internet line. now planning to buy an additional t1 line for redundancy. does it require connecting an additional connector or adding new ip address to mx record.

also does exchange server have a heartbeat to check which line is active to send and receive email. My aim is to still send and receive emails when one of the internet line is down. please let me know the configuration steps involved
