Hello,

Which protocol does Outlook client use for sending mails to Exchange - MAPI or SMTP? Also does Exchange server listen on specific port for mail client submissions?

Does the Outlook client use SMTP commands such as RCPT TO, DATA etc when communicating with server so that the Exchange server knows who the envelope recipients are? or does the SMTP conversation only occurs between server to server communication?

thanks.
