OST File corruption is very common problem with OST files and several tools & techniques available on Inter-net because no latest version of Microsoft Outlook can import a .ost.

So, I clearly say that it is not possible without a third-party tool. If you searching any free tools to deal with a difficult situation then I recommend, you can try free trial version like “Kernel for OST to PST " and get back your OST file because your OST file is very vital/crucial/critical to you.

I would like to suggest this tool because manually process is very difficult job for nontechnical/home user and second is freeware solution to save first 25 OST emails attachments into PST file without any cost.

Hi,
There might be several reasons for appearing the error message “OST File cannot be accessed”. Some of them I mentioned here:

Reasons:

• Improper shut down of Microsoft Outlook.
• Corrupt OST File.
• Add-ins issue.

Solution:

You should try to run ScanOST.exe utility which is a free utility developed by Microsoft.
When I was searching over the web, I found an informative article on the error message “OST File cannot be accessed. Click here to get more info: http://www.systoolsgroup.com/updates/outlook-ost-file-in-use-and-cannot-be-accessed/
