rclark -> Quick Migration 2007 to 2013 (10.Apr.2016 7:50:36 AM)

Hi All,

I have a simple question that may require a more convoluted answer.
i have been tasked with migrating an exchange 2007 single server installation 60 users to a 2013 single server not purchasing any new certs.
My Idea is as follows
1: install new 2013 exchange server on new server (Done)little to no config, just moving DBs etc
2: Migrate all mailboxes 100GB and public folders 200Gb in batch jobs but set to not Finnish.
3: cut over weekend, set sync jobs to complete, then do all the required 2013 config, certs, send / receive connectors point the Smart host to the new Servers IP Address.

any thoughts? am i setting myself up for a fall, anything i should consider, I am no exchange experts by a long stretch.

Hope you can help / advise

You should think the Web services into the process too: OWA, ECP, Outlook Anywhere, Activesync, OAB and EWS.

These will require changing NATs in the firewall, some DNS changes and probably some PS scripting.

Also bear in mind that the Public Folders in EX2007 can be particularly nasty to get rid of before you can decommision the 2007 environment.

Just a few thought.

To save time and efforts and to avoid executing complex powershell cmdlets, try Stellar Mailbox Extractor for Exchange Server to migrate mailboxes from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 directly in quick time with 100% data migration. You just need to select the mailboxes which you want to export, enter the login credentials of Exchange 2013, and rest the software will do it for you.
