Hi All,

We are using Public Folders as a File Server. We are having issues though that multiple can edit the files at the same time. I have been searching thru the net and it seems that there is no file locking mechanism. Our Dir of IT says otherwise. She said in previous comapanies they had no problems with this. When user A had the file opened, User B and C could not edit it. Is this doable? We are running Exchange 2000 standard edition.

thanks
Dan

On the Exchange server Manager you can set the permissions under the Public folders - if you go to the properties of the exchange folder you can set it so that it is read only - don't know if that will help - you can set different permissions for each person.

Exchange is not designed for File Storage.
Store the files on a file server and assign permissions properly.
