Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help me. I have a small problem receiving NDR's to any mail enabled public folders on our Exchange 2K3 server.

We currently have a few Public Folders that a number of people have access to (info@ etc) and forward emails that get delivered to these addresses onto the relevant person. Everyone in the office has permission to 'Send As' these public folders and that seems to work perfectly.

The problem is, when an email is sent to an invalid address (even an internal address) that is marked as being FROM one of these public folders, the NDR does not get delivered back into the public folder - it just disappears with no record of it ever being bounced. So as far as the sender is concerned it went though with no problems.

I have specified my email address in Exchange to have a copy of all NDR's sent to it and they do arrive here - just not in the public folder. If an email is sent from anyone other than a public folder the NDR arrives in their mailbox every time as it should.

How can I get the NDR's to be sent back to the public folder? Hope this explanation makes sense and someone can help me.

That's not supported, in the same way that you can't specify a PF as the recipient of the messages being NDRd

Actually, I found a way to make it happen.

They now arrive in a slightly different format, but at least we know when one has bounced. I followed the details in MS Knowledge Base Article - 812806 then restarted the Information Store. Works fine now.
