SaveSentMessageFolder and public folders - 22.Sep.2004 2:37:00 PM

Hi, I can't get SaveSentMessageFolder to work with public folders. If the active folder i.e is my inbox everything works fine (message stored in inbox and not in sent-messages). Any clue to why it does not work with public folders? Access permissions perhaps?

Function Item_Send()
Set oaxp = Application.ActiveExplorer
Set currentFldr = oaxp.CurrentFolder
Set Item.SaveSentMessageFolder = currentFldr
End Function

That's unfornate.
I've been experiencing the same problem.

So...anybody know of any *other* ways to get sent messages to go into a public folder (the specific folder determined by input in a dialog box) from a COM add-in?
I tried moving the message in the mailitem_send and the Application_itemsend event handlers but it causes an error - it seems that these events occur too early in the process and there doesn't seem to be an event that occurs just after the email is sent.
Any inpiration/wisdom would be appreciated.

You can create a custom form and use vbscript to programatically set the folder e-mail address in the BCC field. That way you also get a "copy" of the mail in the public folder.

Thanks Kurt.
I thought about doing it that way but didn't want a copy to still remain in the 'sent items' I ended up using a timer and every half hour doing a batch move from the sent items based on a custom field I used to store filing information in the email when it was sent. It seems to be working well.
