Here at the University, we pretty much allow a standard user 50mg. Out of 1,500 users on the system, with an additional 6,500 coming on, we have about 20% requesting 100-200mg mailboxes. Do any of you have limits consistent with this?

If you have the storage space available on the Exchange servers, and it really is necessary then why not expand them ?

I guess I am researching the system impact that may trigger negative results if we continue to grow our databases. I cannot find anything definitive as of yet. I can find several different documents highlight general impact areas but nothing specific about increasing mailbox sizes.

The only problem we have seen with larger mailboxÆs is the access time it takes for outlook to open and display the inbox, this is more related to inbox size then over all mailbox size. we currently have no mailbox limits and have users with 1.5GB or 100K emails in there mailbox with some performance issue loading.

How many users are on your system? we have allocated 100 gig of disk to each SG with 4 SG's on an active/passive cluster. right now we have 1200 users on the system.
