I'm having problems mounting a corrupted mailbox store....

The mailbox store was originally on an SBS 2000 server, but got corrupted due to hard disk errors. Unfortunately the server didn't back up properly, so the only copy we had left was the damaged mailbox store.

I transferred the mailbox store files to an SBS 2003 server, and put them in the MDBDATA directory. I the ran the following commands to attempt a repair: -

1) ESEUTIL /P PRIV1.EDB
2) ESEUTIL /MH PRIV1.EDB
3) ESEUTIL /D PRIV1.EDB
4) ISINTEG -S SSSERVER -FIX -TEST ALLTESTS (Failed to run)

I then tried to mount the mailbox store, but this failed and I got Event 1088. I have seen a support article 327156, which suggests I need to change the legacyExchangeDN attribute.

Is there another way round this?

Typically the only recovery for hard disk type problems (-1811 perhaps?) is restore from backup and roll the logs forward.
You appear to have run a bettery of tests on this database, so you could have made it better or 10 times worse.
It's crunch time. I think that you should see about Aelita Exchange Recovery or OnTrack Powercontrols to get into the store and extract the data. Whatever you do now will result in a database that's not in a fit state for continued stable operations. Since you have SBS you are not in a position to mount a new store and do move mailbox moves.

I have two versions of the store files....

1) The store files as they were when we retrieved it for data recovery.
2) The store files after being repaired with ESEUTIL.

I have run PowerControls and managed to retreive the Public Folders. But it won't read my Private Folders, no matter which EDB I tell it to look at.

Any suggestions?
