AHHHH! We are running 3 exchange servers, one of which we transfer mailboxes to when we move them around or have to do upgrades. we moved all the mailboxes to the store on exch3 from exch2, now we upgraded exch2 to exchange 2003... and it wont start the information store... any solutions?

I get an error that the server is unavailable, and the service on the destination server (information store) is not running. i try to start it up and it gives me an error 0... thats alot of help "[Confused]"

Does Exch2 have anything important on it?

It's always nice to have it built from scratch, rather then have legacy stuff on it already from the upgrade.

If you can not remove the server and re-build it, and the only option is to get the Information Store running again, what you need to check is the condition of the Databases, if they were shutdown cleanly or in a state of "Dirty Shutdown".

Have a read over this MS article, it might help:
