Guest -> split large mailbox (14.Mar.2005 12:11:00 PM)

Hello

I have several mailboxes that are large (1Gb and more) and I want to split them for more comfortable using. For example user goes to another computer and trying to read his email and every time he needs to download his 1Gb mailbox.

Idea is to make several pst files with his mailbox for different periods of time. Like one for each year. And keep his old emails in these pst files. When he wants to read something he will just take his emails from these pst files.

How can I devide his mailbox on such smaller pst files? Also his folder structure should be kept.

I use MS Outlook 2003 and MS Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 Small Business server.

Thanks

Open your Outlook and connect to the Exchange Server. Create a .pst files on the computer. Open the .pst files. Move all the old mails to whatever .pst files you want it to be moved.

Remember: This mails are not sitting on your local computer. They are no more on the server and they will not be backed up anymore. So you have to now manually backup your .pst files.

You don't say how big your organisation is but you might want to consider an archiving solution, such as KVS Enterprise Vault
