I was unable to repair using logs so I ran a /p moved all the logs out of the folder, ran a /mh and the database shows clean shutdown. Yet I still am unable to start the service. here is the priv1.edb dump. amd I missing something? Reboot did no good.

after that you run the ESEUTIL, make sure that you also run the ISINTEG on your IS.

M3_DeL -> RE: Cannot Start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service (21.Mar.2005 6:33:00 PM)

THank you for your help, I am running it with these tags "isinteg -s servername -fix -test alltests" would this be correct?

I keep getting this error

Error: unable to get databases status from server. The reason could be either wr
ong server name or networking problems. Isinteg quits now.

I have tried DNS qualified name, I tried no server name, I tried outlook store name in place of servername. Thanks for your help so far!

Ok, I am thinking I am getting the error because there is no mounted store or because I can't start the Info store service.

When I try to start the service I get this in the event log

ID: 7024
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated with service-specific error 0 (0x0).

I am also seeing this in the application log

Source: MSExchangeIS
ID: 9564
Error 0x3ee starting the Microsoft Exchange Information Store.
Failed to init VSERVER.

Ok, I found what is wrong,

Look for the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\VirusScan and set "Enabled" to a value of 0. Stop and restart the exchange services.

This fixed it, I think it is definately virus scan related. I don't like the idea of having virus scan not enabled. I am running Trend Micro Scan Mail. Any help on understanding what is going on here would be great! [Smile]

You CANNOT run ESEUTIL and ISINTEG on a mounted store, it's impossible. It must be unmounted.

But yes, you seem to have a problem with your Information Store service... You should be able to start it, even with an unmounted store.

The command that you entered: isinteg -s servername -fix -test alltests

seems to be correct. But like you said, if you cannot run this command, it would be related to the fact that the information store service is not running. I don't know exactly what is going on with your IS service, but you will need to fix that before making sure that you can run the ISINTEG utility.

Yeah I read your post, I'm don't know the product that you are using. From the reg key you posted, it seems to be an exchange dedicated antivirus software. I would contact that company for some support if you are not able to run your exchange service with their product turned on.

Within your antivirus you should have an option to exclude folders from scanning. Definately make sure that your \mdbdata\ folder is excluded. Doing that may be enough to fix your issue.

How do you solve this problem permanently? If you disable the registry key the server just enables it after a reboot.
