Hello,

I have recently migrated Exchange 2000(IMAP) email to Exchange 2003(IMAP) using EXMERGE.
Everything went fine except for one account. First of all, ExMerge would miss half of the messages for that account. I managed to import local PST file of old messages using EXMerge. Now I am trying to do a backup using Veritas 9.1 software and it gives me A LOT of errors saying Access Denied. I've spent some time with Veritas Tech Support and we came to conclusions that some emails are corrupt and duplicated. For instance, there is an ok copy of email and second copy without From: To: fields. Some messages dont even show on client machines. Instead it would give an error "Failed to update headers".

This is driving me nuts. I cant do backup.
Here is my configuration:
Old Server: Windows 2000 Server SP4 with Exchange 2000
New Server: Windows 2003 SBS with Exchange 2003.
We use IMAP for our email.

I am thinking of running some kind of detect-and-repair for exchange database to get rid or fix those corrupted messages, but I dont know how.

Please help.

Thank you very much.

Try running
ISINTEG -s <servername> -fix -test alltests
from the command prompt

I've already tried that. It found some minor errors, but nothing big. Is there any tool that can delete corrupted/duplicated messages out of the store?

OWA is sometimes capable of deleting corruted messages otherwise MDBVU32.EXE can do it. You can download MDBVU32.EXE from the Microsoft Exchange Support FTP site:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/PSS/Tools/Exchange%20Support%20Tools/mdbvu32

Looks like MDBVU32.exe can do it, but it's manual.

Is there a way to check automatically a mailbox for corrupted messages. I mean it would take me forever to check everyone's mailbox for corrupted messages.
