brightkeys -> Store.exe memory usage increases constantly (3.May2005 5:37:00 PM)

I have exch 2003 installed and have noticed recently that the store.exe service is using massive amounts of physical memory. after i restart the service it is using approx. 16mb but immediately starts consuming ram in random amounts, (one increase might be 16kb another might be 128 and larger.) as you can imagine before long most of my memory is consumed leaving the system crawling along.
any help would be great.

Well Exchange is designed in such a way that the Store.exe process will grab all memory available, it's normal to see a Store.exe process using around 1GB of RAM depending on environment.

The good thing is that Exchange will release any RAM requested by other processes on the server.

That being the case, should I have exchange loaded on an independent server? I inherited a mess about 3 months ago and am trying to decipher WHY! We currently are running 6 servers. 1 dc with exchange and other db intensive applications, 1 bdc with spyware server and not much more, 3 application servers and 1 terminal server for timberline software access. would i be better served by moving my exchange install to the BDC which does not have much of a function?

Yes the ideal solution is to run Exchange on a member server not doing any other resource intensive work, So that would be a very good idea.

Also there are several cons running Exchange 2003 on a DC:
