not sure if this is the right spot but I will post here anyway, I am using sbs2003 with backup exec 9.1 with all the latestservice packs loaded.
When i run my backup everynight backup exec cannot copy about 5-6 emails out of a few users mailboxes, I hav since figured out it look as though those emails are spam and viruses, the backup says it fails but it does go trough and backup everything just misses these few files.

Any ideas on how to either skip these files or back them up this is the error i get there are a more but this is example, these are out of the backup exec log., I have given backup exec group full admin privelages over the information store and I also execute the backup exec with the admin account. any idea's

Hey,

You can exclude the anti-virus program from scanning these files (ex: x:\exchsrvr\) and check it out.

Cheers !

The files could be locked by the virus scanner and thus why it is saying access denied. Also try running an ESEUTIL /g on the store to see if there is any corruption and possibly an ISINTEG -S <servername> -fix -test alltests might correct it as well.

Yes you should get rid of the badmail. There¦s a small application that can do it for you and either archive or delete them.
