Hi,

I have installed a Exchange 2003 Sp1 in Windows 2000 server sp4.This server is a member server into windows 2000 server. His name is Pericles.

I tried to install Exchange 2003 Sp1 in a controller domain into this domain. But the installation failed and i decide to uninstall.

The installation in Pericles worked fine, but when i reboot the server, the information store service don't
start. When I try to start manually th system show me a message error 1053:

"the service has not responded to the request or beginning of control
in a suitable time"

In the view of events, show me some errors about information store. The first
is
a success id :7024.The service Microsoft Exchange-information store finished
with a specific error of service 0.

The second error has a success id 5000.Source MsExchangeIS."The service
information store cannot be initialized of
Microsoft Exchange. : Error 0x80004005."

In addition, when installing Microsoft Exchange Server Best Practices
Analyzer Tool it says to me that the server where had tried the installation continues working, in spite of i to have uninstalled it.

I would like to know as I can eliminate the old server completely and like being able to fix the problem with the Information Store service.

It would be thankful to you if you could help to fix that error

Thank you very much

Try copying policytest.exe from the exchange CD and running it on the exchange server and make sure it doesn't say any right not founds.

I wrote an SOX at microsoft for something simular and it had to do with Permissions within Regedt32
and the HKEY Local machint -> security folder i think. There were no permissions in there. Had to add them back.

0x80004005 usually has to do with permissions and access denied.

Hi Scotty,

thanks for your help.

In the end I have uninstalled Exchange 2003 of the server,
have degraded the server of the domain and I have promoted it in an
independent new domain.

Now,Exchange works perfect.

I understand that the computer wasn't the problem. Can to be
because the primary controller of my domain is a Windows 2000 server with sp2?

Thanks for all!
