Hi,
I am looking for information on upgrading to exchange 2003. I currently have one exchange 2000 server running on Windows 2000 server. I am going to build a new Windows 2003 server and install Exchange 2003 on the new server. My 2000 servers are not running in native mode. I am reasearching to find out if what the proper procedures are to make the change but I want to create a checklist to ensure I do not miss anything. I am having a hard time finding information on how to move the data from the old server to the new server. I feel comfortable replicating the public folders and moving the mailboxes but is there anything else I need to condider. All information anyone can provide will be greatly apprecitated.

Hi,

This should help:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822942

Basically what you must do is:

Run exchange 2003 /forestprep
Run exchange 2003 /domainprep
Install windows 2003 on the new server (also all security hotfixes)
Using exdeploy (started automatically when you mount the exchange 2003 cd on the new server) to make sure that everything is ready and then install exchange 2003.
Install exchange 2003 SP1
Install exchange aware antivirus program and test
Install exchange aware backup program and test
Move user mailboxes
Replicate public and system folders
Remove the exchange 2000 server using:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917
